Media experts seek quality content to uphold family values in Nigeria
IBADAN, NIGERIA — Media experts, including veteran broadcaster Dr. Yemi Farounbi, Media Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, and Wellsradio owner Evang. Lillian Bademosi, have called on broadcasters and content producers to churn out quality and valuable content that will uphold family values to build a better Nigeria. Speaking at the first anniversary of Wells 89.3 FM, Oluyole, Ibadan, they stated that Nigeria would improve if wholesome values were promoted in the media. Farounbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the station, emphasized the need for media content to promote good values for a better society. 'If we are going to build a better society, we should look at the content of our media. We must begin to talk of those values that can elevate, unite, and make us have a society that is better than what we have now. Years ago, we talked about integrity. If we don't promote those values, we cannot have a good society,' he said. Bademosi added that the media outfit was resolute about its mandate to promote wholesome values to build homes, families, and society. She stated that through wholesome content, media could change the world, which is the mission of the radio station. 'This is a radio station for the entire family; there is no obscene word, and language, and nothing that will not edify the entire family,' Bademosi noted. 'The station is meant to bring hope, encouragement and reconciliation to the people and to reach the entire world. Our core values are excellence, teamwork, professionalism, creativity and Godliness.' On his part, Dr Olanrewaju emphasised that without celebrating the right values, there would not be development in the country. 'We don't celebrate the right values. We don't celebrate hard work, honesty and dignity of labour. That is why our nation has been on this trend. There won't be any development unless we celebrate the right values. Wells Radio has been on the right path. I celebrate this media outfit.'
